Minutes of the CPRB Meeting Held on July 25, 2006

The role of the Street Response Units (SRUs) was discussed briefly. The SRUs are comprised of several uniformed officers deployed to specific areas of the city that are hot spots of criminal activity. They are not bound to Zone boundaries; The most recent police recruit class graduated from the Pittsburgh Police Academy on Friday, July 21, 2006. The 43 new officers received their zone assignments. The class was comprised of 38 white male officers, 1 black female officer, and 4 white female officers; Ms. Hinton and Ms. Pittinger met with the Mayor and Chief of Police on 5/31/06; The CPRB is investigating 2 police pursuits (5/25/06 and 6/20/06). A subpoena to receive taped communications between the officers and 911 personnel was issued to the Allegheny County Emergency Operations’ Chief, Robert Full.
